Alaska Railroad, Denali National Park, Kantishna Roadhouse

Day 1: Arrive Anchorage, Alaska
Upon arrival at the Anchorage Airport you will be met by a private driver and transferred to your accommodations located in the heart of downtown.Overnight — Hotel Captain Cook, junior suite
Day 2: Alaska Railroad GoldStar Dome Train to Denali National Park
This morning, meet your private driver in the hotel lobby for your transfer to the Anchorage Rail station. You will be boarding the Alaska Railroad’s GoldStar Dome Train en route to Denali National Park and Preserve.Upon arrival at the Denali Depot you will board a courtesy shuttle to transfer to the main entrance of Denali National Park and check into your accommodations at the Grand Denali Lodge.

Optional Afternoon & Evening Activities:
Once you have settled and had some lunch you may want to pursue an afternoon activity that can be arranged directly from the front desk at the Grand Denali Lodge. You can pursue guided hiking, flightseeing by wing plane and or helicopter, horseback riding and or take in an evening rafting and or float adventure.
Day 3: Morning at Leisure / Travel Through Denali National Park / Arrive Kantishna Roadhouse
This morning you will have time to pursue a morning activity before you depart on your journey through Denali National Park and Preserve. You will board the shuttle from the Grand Denali Lodge to the Denali Depot where you will board the Kantishna Roadhouse shuttle. Upon arrival at the Kantishna Roadhouse Lodge you’ll experience a 7-hour wildlife tour that travels 90 miles into Denali National Park.Along the way, your driver/naturalist will introduce you to the park, its wildlife and the wild lands in Denali. You’ll learn about Denali’s history, geology and much more. Wildlife within Denali is habituated to the busses and vans that ply the park road, allowing excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Your driver will stop along the way for wildlife viewing and photos. There are scheduled rest stops along the road where you can stretch your legs, smell the tundra flowers and use the restroom facilities.

Day 4: Activities at Kantishna Roadhouse Lodge
Each day Kantishna offers activities that can be educational as well as fun for all ages. Each evening after dinner, the guide staff will help you plan your activities for the following day. If you want to plan your own excursion, ask a guide for maps and assistance – they are always happy to assist.Denali National Park is renowned for its wildlife. During your stay you'll have fabulous opportunities to see most of the park's wildlife up-close. Bring your binoculars and have your favorite camera and lots of film ready! Your shutter finger is bound to get the workout of a lifetime. The majority of wildlife seen in the park is during the bus ride to and from the park entrance.
Each day there are guided hikes and walks available that last for one to six hours. This is an excellent opportunity to explore and learn about the wildlife and flora of the Kantishna Hills from an experienced guide.
If mountain biking is on the top of your list as a favorite outdoor activity, rev up the pedals of one of the lodge’s mountain bikes and spend some time exploring the countryside. Pedal to Wonder Lake or investigate the old mining roads in the area. Ask a guide to assist you with a bike selection and protective helmet/gear.
Learn the history and methods of the old-time prospectors and try your hand at panning for a little "color." Any gold you find is yours to keep! This is a fantastic trip for photo and video enthusiasts.
When Denali (Mt. McKinley) itself is "out," guests can hike or shuttle to spectacular viewing areas, where even the novice can end up with truly stunning photographic results. When the mountain does appear, the awesome Wickersham Wall, reputed to be the largest vertical surface on earth, will overwhelm you.
At the end of the day, join the naturalist guides for gourmet appetizers and a recap of the day and a hearty dinner.

Day 5: Charter Flight from Denali to Anchorage
This morning you will have time to enjoy a hearty breakfast and get in a morning activity before your charter flight from Kantishna to Anchorage.After your stay in Kantishna you will take advantage of your proximity to North America's tallest mountain, Denali, by enjoying a flight over breathtaking wilderness. You will be taken on a journey gently following the rising terrain, past numerous kettle ponds, upward to the base of Denali (Mt. McKinley), which stands at 20,320 ft. (6194 m.).
The view, no doubt, offers a perspective of Alaska that will make this adventure a highlight of your vacation. The duration of the flight is ideal for in-depth sightseeing and photography. If weather conditions allow, you will circumnavigate the entire Denali massif.
After your exploration of Mt. McKinley and the Denali area, you will continue your aerial journey heading south towards Anchorage. En route to Anchorage you will get spectacular views of the Talkeetna Mountains, the Coastal Mountains and the Chugach Mountains that surround the backdrop of Anchorage.
From your scenic flight, you will arrive at Anchorage’s Merrill Airport Field and transferred by a private driver to your deluxe accommodations at the Hotel Captain Cook for the evening.

Please note: Actual flight time is approximately 2 hours. Due to unforeseen weather conditions your charter flight may be cancelled and your tour arrangements may be altered to get you to your next destination. All tour revisions due to “weather issues” are at the cost of the client. If clients have travel insurance, most weather cancellations will be reimbursed through your Insurance Provider.
An option is to return to Anchorage via the Alaska Railroad and/or to extend your visit to Fairbanks or Anchorage.
Day 6: Fly from Anchorage to Juneau to board the yacht or connect for your flight home
This morning your private driver will transfer you from your hotel to the Anchorage International Airport for your departing flight to Juneau or to your home city.
