Glacier Bay National Park Yacht Cruise
Permitted by the National Park Service to Cruise Glacier Bay!
For the first time, an extensive luxury yacht cruise into Glacier Bay is available with American Safari Cruises! Newly permitted by the National Park Service, the 36-guest Safari Explorer and the 22-guest Safari Quest will ply the waters of this glacial wonderland for one to two days as a part of our week-long Alaska cruises.
More than a protected area in the wilderness of Alaska, Glacier Bay is also recognized internationally as a Biosphere Reserve, established in 1986 under the United Nations Man and the Biosphere Program. In 1992 Glacier Bay became part of an international World Heritage Site, along with neighboring Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Now, we want to take you there.
With American Safari Cruises, you’ll discover 15,000 - foot mountains rising straight out of the ocean; come face-to-face with massive glaciers, their blue faces rising some 200 feet above the sea; and experience the thunderous roar of ice as it “calves” into the water. You’ll weave into unsung bays and coves where grizzly bears raise their young, moose browse among the alders, and mountain goats scale the cliffs above. Here are only a few of the highlights you’ll experience:
- On board Naturalist and Park Ranger to interpret the geology and ecology of the park.
- A chance to see puffins, murres and other rarely seen sea birds.
- Opportunities to see sea lions, seals, bears, mountain goats, moose and more.
- One or two days of cruising, exploring by small boat, kayaking, and hiking.
- One night at anchor in a silent, pristine cove inside the park.
- Several up-close and unhurried glacier viewings.
