SEATTLE,
WA — “Active Warm Waters,” a new brochure from American Safari Cruises that showcases the company’s growing focus on luxury yacht cruising in Hawaii and Mexico, will mail in mid-November to travel agents nationwide. The 24-page brochure includes itineraries, rates and dates through January 2010 and information on stopover hotel packages in both destinations.
American Safari Cruises debuts its inter-island yacht cruising in Hawaii in December 2008 with eight-day, seven-night itineraries between the Big Island and Maui aboard its newest yacht, the 36-guest Safari Explorer. Highlights of the new itinerary are seldom-visited Molokai, Lanai, underwater Molokini, plus colonial Lahaina, whale watching and an included helicopter tour of the Kilauea volcano.
In Mexico’s Sea of Cortés, the 22-guest Safari Quest offers two itineraries, the eight-day, seven-night cruise between Loreto and La Paz, and the 10-day, nine-night sailing between Loreto and San Carlos (Guaymas) on the eastern shore. Guests follow whales and other rare sea life, ride mules though ancient arroyos to secluded beaches, meet the residents of the smallest village in Sea of Cortés, swim with sea lions, visit bird rookeries and beachcomb.
All American Safari Cruises warm-water yacht cruises include hiking, kayaking, shore-boat exploration, sailing, swimming and snorkeling; scuba diving is available in Hawaii and on selected Sea of Cortés departures. Exceptional food is served in a single seating, and complimentary fine wines and premium spirits are included; the guest-crew ration is 2 to 1.
Because American Safari Cruises’ itineraries explore the routes less traveled and the areas less impacted by tourism, the company carefully selects hotels that reflect the atmosphere of the destination for its stopover packages. “Our cruises focus on the abundance of wildlife and natural phenomena,” says Tim Jacox, ASC vice president of sales and marketing, “and whenever possible, we meet and learn from the locals. It gives our guests the real flavor of the area they’re exploring. We want that feel to carry over to our stopover hotels as much as possible.”
In Hawaii, the hotels maintain a Hawaiian motif and feature excellent beaches, deluxe ocean-view rooms and world-class golf courses that are next door or nearby. The properties are Maui’s Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, on the site of a former plantation; the Big Island’s Mauna Lani, with ancient fish ponds and cultural activities on the Kohala Coast, and Kauai’s spectacular St. Regis Princeville on Hanalei Bay with the mystical Na Molokama mountains as a backdrop.
In Mexico, guests who choose a stopover in Loreto stay at the picturesque Posada de las Flores, a luxury hotel with the tradition of a Mexican hacienda; those who extend their visit in La Paz stay at the Fiesta Inn, situated at a marina on the Sea of Cortes with a small-town ambience.
