SEATTLE, WA. – Two new itineraries
and special theme cruises in Mexico’s Sea of Cortés,
extended stays in Glacier Bay and an added emphasis on intergenerational
family travel highlight American Safari Cruises’ 2007 brochure.
- Improved air connections into Baja California now make it possible
for American Safari Cruises’ popular eight-day, seven-night
cruise to sail round trip from the colorful colonial town of Loreto.
Days are spent exploring the wildlife-rich waters of the Sea
of Cortés biosphere reserve, including swimming
with sea lions, a visit to the smallest remote village among the
islands and a trail ride. During winter and early spring, guests
travel to the calving grounds of the gray whales. Prices begin at
$3,995 per person double occupancy.
- A second new Mexico itinerary explores the northern waters of
the Sea of Cortés into the Midriff Islands and historic Santa
Rosalia. The 10-day, nine-night cruise round trip from Loreto offers
ample opportunity to see massive pods of dolphins, bird rookeries
and deserted white-sand beaches. Prices begin at $5,895 per person
double occupancy.
- New theme cruises in the Sea of Cortés include SCUBA diving,
stargazing, photography and native culture, with experts to assist
guests.
- In Alaska, American Safari Cruises guests spend two days in legendary
Glacier Bay National Park. Unlike both large and small cruise ships
that spend just part of one day in the park, the American Safari
Cruises yachts overnight in a secluded cove, providing opportunities
to go ashore and explore instead of just cruising by.
- American Safari yachts meet the growing demand for family vacations
that include grandparents, mom and dad and the kids. The yachts
are small enough that a family can have the boat to themselves,
or families can join others for the Kids-in-Nature special departures
in both Alaska and Mexico. Children under 12 are half fare. Full-boat
charters begin at $62,995 and include all food, crew, beverages,
transfers and shore excursions.
Three yachts comprise the American Safari Cruises fleet: the 120-foot,
22-passenger Safari Quest; the 112-foot, 12-passenger Safari
Escape; and the 105-foot, 12-passenger Safari Spirit.
Each yacht offers a 2 to 1 passenger-crew ratio, extraordinary food,
en suite staterooms, complimentary bar with premium spirits and fine
wines, spacious salons, libraries, exercise equipment and an on-deck
hot tub.
Pioneers of yacht cruising in Alaska since 1997, American Safari Cruises
was the first company to offer travelers the opportunity to book individual
cabins in a luxury yacht setting that previously was available only
on a full-boat charter. Other itineraries include the San Juan Islands
and Canadian fjords and the Columbia and Snake rivers.
