American Safari Cruises adds a March 8-15, 2009
Photo Theme Departure in Mexico's Sea of Cortés
SEATTLE, WA — Well-known travel photographers Ellen and Hank Barone will lead a special photography cruise in Mexico’s Sea of Cortés aboard American Safari Cruises’ 120-foot, 22-guest luxury yacht Safari Quest, March 8 to 15, 2009. The cruise offers 20 percent commission for travel agents plus a $250 per person travel credit for clients if booked before Dec. 31. The eight-day, seven-night cruise from La Paz to colonial Loreto sails through the wildlife-rich desert sea that Jacques Cousteau called “the aquarium of the world” for its large number of indigenous species of marine life. The yacht carries double sea kayaks and a motorized shore boat for close-up exploration as well as a sail boat, snorkel gear and water skiing equipment. Because of the yacht's small guest contingent, photographers at all skill levels will have ample opportunity for one-on-one instruction as well as demonstrations and workshops from the Barones.
The activities on the all-inclusive cruise offer opportunities for photography -- an excursion to see gray whales at Bahia Magdalena, a burro ride into the arroyos, swimming with sea lions, exploration of mangroves and hikes among the cardon cactus, and a visit to a tiny fishing village of just two dozen inhabitants. Staterooms on the Safari Quest offer private bathrooms and DVD players; some have step-out balconies. Other amenities include exceptional cuisine prepared with fresh, local ingredients; a complimentary bar stocked with premium spirits, fine wines and micro brews; a top-deck hot tub; a spacious salon and view library. The guest-crew ratio is 2 to 1. The cost of the inclusive cruise begins at $5,495 per person double occupancy; the entire yacht may be chartered for $127,895 and includes all crew, food and beverages, fuel, port taxes and transfers.
