New Itineraries, theme departures highlight American Safari Cruises'
2007 Mexico season

SEATTLE, WA – A rare opportunity awaits to visit the seldom-seen Galapagos of the North, the northern islands of Mexico's Sea of Cortés. Known as the "Aquarium of the World", the Biosphere Reserve is home to many species of whales, dolphins, sea birds, fish and plant life that is found nowhere else on the planet. For the 2007 season, American Safari Cruises has added a series of special theme cruises that offer an enriching experience by means of photography, diving and astronomy.

The "northern route" travels from Loreto taking guests to Isla Raza, a bird sanctuary with the world's largest rookery of Heerman's Gulls and Elegant Terns. En route towards the Midriff Islands, the 22-guest, Safari Quest plies waters that are home to 12 species of resident and migratory whales, sea lions, dolphins and elephant seals. Guests also visit the historic town of Santa Rosalia and ride shore craft through Mulege's palmed lined river oasis. In addition, there are many opportunities to hike the desert, beachcomb, snorkel, kayak, sail or swim.

2007 departures on the northern route are scheduled for April 1 and 10, November 8 and 25, and December 4 on a 10-day, 9-night itinerary, roundtrip from Loreto. Prices begin at $5,895 per person, double occupancy.

Theme cruises added for 2007 enable guests to pursue their hobbies and interests or learn new ones with onboard experts while exploring the southern portion of the Sea of Cortés between Loreto and La Paz. A January 14 astronomy cruise with provided telescopes and educational programs takes advantage of the exceptional stargazing skies of Baja California. The December 13 departure is set aside for SCUBA diving enthusiasts. Master diver instruction, all equipment and selected dive sites are featured.

Three photography workshop departures featuring professional photographer, Mike Nolan enable guests to have a better understanding of the use of the camera. Mike specializes in photographing animals in their natural habitats and focuses on capturing nature and wildlife at its best.. The January 21 and February 11 departures are 8-night cruises, roundtrip from Loreto, to the southern areas of the Sea of Cortés. Prices begin at $3,995 per person, double occupancy. The November 25 10-day, 9-night departure follows the northern route.

All Mexico Sea of Cortés are aboard American Safari Cruises 120', 22-guest Safari Quest, featuring 11 staterooms with private baths and televisions for VCR/DVD viewing. A video and reading library, a stocked bar featuring fine wines, micro-brews and premium spirits, exceptional cuisine, an on-deck hot tub and exercise equipment are all part of the inclusions. A two-to-one guest-to-crew ratio ensures personal attention. The yacht's bridge is always open for a Captain's-eye view.
